Dosham ("the app") is a Chechen-Russian dictionary. This page explains what information the app handles and how.
Summary
Dosham does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use.
The core Chechen↔Russian dictionary works entirely offline. Nothing you search, save, or type in that mode ever leaves your device.
The app does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind.
When you choose a language other than Russian, the word or phrase you search for is sent to a translation service so the app can show you a result. This is the only case where any text you enter leaves your device, and it is described in detail below.
Information stored only on your device
The app stores the following data locally on your device, using standard iOS storage. This information is never transmitted anywhere:
Words you save to Favorites
Your current search text and search direction, so the app reopens where you left off
Your selected language for translation
The bundled dictionary database itself
None of this data is linked to your identity, and none of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
Translation to other languages
Dosham's core dictionary covers Chechen and Russian and works fully offline. If you select a different language (for example, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, or Turkish), the app needs an internet connection to bridge your search through an online translation step:
The word or phrase you type is sent to our server so it can be translated to or from Russian.
Our server forwards that text to a third-party translation engine to perform the translation, and returns the result to the app.
No account identifiers, device identifiers, or other personal information are sent along with this text.
We do not permanently store the text you search for other than as needed to return the translation result to your device.
This network request only happens when you search using a language other than Russian. Searching in Chechen or Russian never uses the network.
Text-to-speech
The app can read Russian words aloud using Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine, which runs entirely on your device. No audio or text is sent anywhere for this feature.
Children's Privacy
Dosham does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is a reference dictionary suitable for all ages and does not include the ability to create an account, message other users, or share personal information.
